The high beam quality combined with the wavelength of 1.9 µm optimized for surgical cutting also permits the use of the vela® and vela® XL laser systems in the field of general surgery. Significantly improved cutting performance can be achieved in many cases, e.g. in partial liver resection. The good haemostatic effect permits precise cutting with virtually no bleeding. Furthermore, the CoolCut® function allows the controlled reduction of thermal input, e.g. within the scope of radical prostatectomy, thereby reducing post-operative urge symptoms significantly.
