Pneumology

The treatment of stenoses and processes of varying genesis that take up space (malignant and benign tumors, granulation tissue, scarring) constitutes a major challenge in interventional bronchoscopy.
While the therapy should be conducted quickly and safely, minimizing side effects and improving the patient's quality of life take center stage.
The possibilities of modern laser therapy provide new options for the attending physician in the targeted treatment of obstructive conditions. Fast and safe patient care can be significantly improved through the use of a laser with optimum physical characteristics.
With the vela®, StarMedTec GmbH offers a laser system with special characteristics for interventional bronchoscopy applications.
The effect of the optimum wavelength of 1.9 µm helps the bronchologist treat the patient even more effectively while avoiding the undesirable side effects of other methods.
The special characteristics of the vela® support the precise alleviation of stenoses in contact procedures with very little bleeding, no unpredictable depth effect or the bothersome “popcorn effect”.
The precise cutting properties of the vela® permit the treatment of scar strictures and the defined removal of granulation tissue with a low rate of complications – even in the proximity of metallic endobronchial stents. In non-contact procedures, using the wavelength of 1.9 µm achieves good surface coagulation without unintentionally affecting deeper structures.
In combination with the highly flexible applicators, the vela® supports numerous treatment possibilities in endoscopic (rigid and flexible) bronchology.
